Discover the scorching rise of China’s foreign trade exports, with a staggering 14.9% year-on-year surge, hitting an astounding 21.1% growth rate in US dollars in November. Amid the challenges of the pandemic, certain industries have struck gold, with orders pouring in and production schedules booked into the next year.
Delving into the hottest trends of 2020, we unveil the lucky stars that lit up the global market: Hot Toys…
- Toy-Mania: China reigns as the world’s leading hot toys exporter, and the second half of 2020 witnessed a triumphant resurgence. The sales volume of XX XXX Toy Factory skyrocketed, doubling the numbers from the first half of the year. Brace yourself, as the fourth quarter sales are projected to triple those of the initial half! Traditional Hot Toys alone exported over US$3.5 billion in July, recording a 21.2% YoY increase. To keep up with growing international demand, many retailers began to pre order hot toys months in advance to avoid missing peak season inventory.

- Promotional Gifts in Demand: The business world thrived on Promotional Gifts, and orders surged for this category. As the “home economy” trend gained momentum, exports of notebook computers and mobile phones saw a 9.1% and 0.2% YoY increase, respectively. Notably, the global PC shipments achieved a remarkable 12.7% YoY growth by the third quarter of 2020, setting a 10-year high. These promotional gifts also served as effective promotional tools, helping companies maintain brand visibility while remote work culture took hold.
- Marvelous Furniture Frenzy: The furniture industry embraced a second-half boom, with overseas markets hungrily seeking sofas, beds, office desks and chairs, dining tables, and children’s beds. Alibaba International Station data revealed a staggering 191% YoY turnover increase and a 112% YoY rise in payment orders as of October’s end.
- Business Gifts are a Hit: Businesses worldwide clamored for Business Gifts, including home appliances like electric frying pans, bread makers, juicers, air purifiers, and air fryers, all witnessing demand spikes by more than 200% YoY. The Export value of LED lighting products soared by 40.5% YoY, amounting to US$3.4 billion in September 2020. Business buyers also focused on finding the right client gift options that felt both practical and premium, contributing to the spike in customized orders.
- Sizzling Spicy Strips: Chinese snacks, particularly spicy strips, have delighted taste buds beyond borders. Exports of spicy noodles experienced a phenomenal 120% YoY increase, reaching 160 countries, with Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and the United States leading the pack in consumption. Chinese snack brands saw increased recognition, with many overseas distributors praising the consistent quality of our goods in both flavor and packaging appeal.
Amidst this export boom, companies faced challenges in recruiting workers to meet the escalating overseas orders. Labor demands surged, but the return of personnel remained sluggish, affecting foreign trade processing companies in Guangdong, Zhejiang, and other coastal regions.

Embrace the resounding success of China’s export industry in 2020, where toys, promotional gifts, and business gifts took center stage and triumphed against all odds!
